If you are the face of the business you can add some personality to your post, you can add personal opinions, the story behind your business, how did you started your business and how is your business different from other similar businesses . If you're blogging from someone else it doesn't distinct the personality behind it so its not a good idea to be personal in that case.
There are so many variables regarding the inclusion of personal experiences, views, etc. that it's hard to come up with a concrete guideline. I guess we have to test the waters and see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI agree that if you are personally the face of the business you know your comfort level with sharing personal information. Also, if you are blogging for family and friends that is different that blogging for a business. If you are blogging for someone else's business I guess it would be best to have a conversation with the owner or management to get clarification and find where the boundaries are. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your example. If you are the face of your business you can get as personal as you want, because you know what you want say and how to come across. However, if you are blogging for another person, etc. then it would be hard to get personal with another person's blog.
ReplyDeleteAgreed—generally if you’re blogging for someone else, you want to be more professional and perhaps more distant sounding than if it were your own blog. But at the same time, maybe they want you to sound friendly and personal. It all really comes down to what you are blogging about—is this large pharmaceutical company or a mom n’ pop shop?
